Responsibilities
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques for sterile preparations
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stocking, and verifying supplies to ensure availability for patient needs
- Assist with patient intake processes by verifying prescriptions, updating medical records, and clarifying medication instructions
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering medication-related questions and supporting medication administration processes
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication dispensing, intake records, and pharmacy logs in compliance with regulatory standards
- Support hospital or LTC pharmacy operations by adhering to medical terminology protocols and safety procedures in acute care environments
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during sterile compounding to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety
Experience
- Prior pharmacy technician experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital settings is highly preferred
- Critical care experience or exposure to ICU environments is a strong advantage
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice
- Experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic technique is desirable
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures within acute care or hospital settings
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations related to intake, medication management, and patient care protocols
