Elementary Paraprofessional

East Mills Community School District is seeking potential candidates for an Elementary Teacher Associate/Paraprofessional. Teacher Associates assist in the classroom and around the building during the school day, providing assistance to students needing a little extra help with reading, math, and other subjects, assisting teachers with classroom management and supervision, and many other tasks throughout the day. 1:1 paraprofessionals will receive additional pay by hour. QUALIFICATIONS:

High school graduate

Ability to work with people

Good communication skills

Cooperative and willing to assume duties as assigned

Maintain a high level of confidentiality

REPORTS TO: Supervising Teacher of Building Principal

JOB GOAL:  To assist the classroom teacher in the educational program and supervision of students as assigned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with or be responsible for students supervision on the playground, the 
• cafeteria, bus loading / unloading, and assemblies.
• Assist special needs students as assigned.
• Prepare materials for use in the classroom or for administrative needs.
• Work with individual students or small group of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Assist with such large group activities as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
• Administers, scores, and records such achievement and diagnostic tests as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Check student's assignments.
• Assist the teacher in developing ways to best meet the student's individual needs.
• Keep work areas maintained (bulletin boards and other classroom learning displays).
• Shall perform other tasks as may be assigned by administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   

Salary and work to be established by the Board of Directors.

EVALUATION:

To be evaluated annually by building principals with the assistance of supervising teachers.
