Nature of the Job

Main Duties

Customer Services

• Delivers the brand promise and always provides exceptional guest service.
• Provides excellent service to internal customers.
• Handles all guest and employee complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. Communicates immediately all guest and employee complaints to the Restaurant Manager.
• Maintains positive guest and colleague interactions with good working relationships.

Financial

• Ensures that all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to money handling and licensing are adhered to.

Operational

• Greets and interacts with guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Seats all guests in a timely and courteous fashion. Clears extra settings if not needed. Presents menu to each guest.
• Answers telephone and takes reservations using professional language.
• Volunteers Hotel information to guests. Must be knowledgeable about other restaurants, shops and locations on property and about current/upcoming events.
• Keeps work area/podium clean and organized. Menus should be wiped down at the end of each shift and replaced if wrinkled or soiled.
• Communicates with kitchen and staff to ensure steady flow of dining guests.
• Maintains waiting list of guests. It is the greeter’s responsibility to know what tables are available, who is covering each section and how to seat guests alternately in each section.

People Development

• Supports Swire Hotels’ cultural and people development implementations and characteristics.

Other Duties

• Attends and contributes to all training sessions and meetings as required.
• Always exercises responsible behavior and positively represents the hotel team and Swire Hotels.
• Maintains strong, professional relationship with relevant representatives from competitor hotels, business partners and other organizations.
• Understands and adheres to the hotel's rules and regulations and in particular, the policies and procedures relating to computer resources, Responsible Alcohol Vendors, fire, hygiene, health and food safety.
• Ensures high standards of personal presentation and grooming.
• Responds to changes within the venue, as dictated by the industry, company and hotel.
• Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills, Qualifications and Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1-year restaurant experience.
• Good food and service knowledge.
• Pleasant personality.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and plan/maintain seating arrangements for guests
