East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas
East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Security Officers to help maintain a safe, respectful, and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff, and property. This role requires good judgment, steady communication, and the ability to de-escalate situations with professionalism.
About the Role
The Security Officer provides visible presence, patrol coverage, access support, incident response, visitor assistance, and emergency coordination. The ideal candidate is observant, calm under pressure, and committed to protecting the dignity and safety of everyone in the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol interior and exterior areas, parking areas, entrances, and assigned posts to support safety and security.
- Monitor visitor activity, access points, cameras, alarms, restricted areas, and unusual behavior.
- Respond to disturbances, safety concerns, workplace violence risks, medical emergencies, alarms, and requests for assistance.
- Use professional communication and de-escalation techniques during difficult patient, visitor, or staff interactions.
- Assist with visitor management, badge expectations, access control, escorts, and after-hours security needs.
- Document patrols, incidents, reports, observations, and follow-up actions accurately.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, EMS, nursing leadership, administration, and facilities when appropriate.
- Follow HIPAA, workplace violence prevention, emergency preparedness, and facility safety policies.
Scheduling and Availability
Full-time and part-time schedules may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating posts based on security coverage needs.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior security, healthcare security, law enforcement, military, corrections, or public safety experience preferred.
- Texas security license or registration required if applicable to assignment.
- BLS preferred.
- Strong observation, de-escalation, judgment, reporting, and professional communication skills.
