East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas
East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking licensed Pharmacists to support safe, accurate, and clinically appropriate medication use throughout the hospital. This role is central to medication verification, therapy review, pharmacy operations, and collaboration with providers and nursing teams.
About the Role
The Pharmacist will help maintain a high standard of medication safety through order review, dosing support, controlled substance oversight, pharmacy workflow supervision, and clinical consultation. The ideal candidate is precise, calm, analytical, and comfortable supporting multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and verify medication orders for appropriateness, allergies, interactions, dosing, duplication, contraindications, and safety concerns.
- Provide clinical guidance to physicians, nurses, and care teams regarding medication therapy and patient-specific considerations.
- Oversee medication preparation, dispensing, storage, labeling, compounding support, and distribution processes.
- Support antimicrobial stewardship, renal dosing, high-alert medication safeguards, IV therapy review, and medication reconciliation.
- Monitor controlled substances and ensure accurate recordkeeping, security, and compliance.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support efficient, safe pharmacy workflow.
- Participate in quality improvement, adverse drug event review, formulary support, and policy compliance activities.
- Maintain compliance with Texas pharmacy regulations, federal requirements, DEA standards, HIPAA, and facility policy.
Scheduling and Availability
Full-time and part-time schedules may include day, evening, weekend, holiday, and rotating coverage based on pharmacy operations.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Active Pharmacist license in the State of Texas required.
- PharmD preferred.
- Hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
- BLS preferred or required based on facility policy.
- Strong clinical judgment, accuracy, communication, and ability to prioritize urgent medication needs.
