Emergency Medical Technician
East Houston Medical Center – Baytown, Texas
East Houston Medical Center’s Baytown facility is seeking Emergency Medical Technicians to support emergency response, patient movement, clinical readiness, and operational flow. EMTs play a key role in helping the facility respond quickly and safely to patient needs.
About the Role
This role supports nurses, providers, respiratory therapy, security, and ancillary departments through hands-on assistance, transport support, basic life support readiness, and department coordination. The ideal EMT is alert, dependable, physically capable, and comfortable in a busy healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with patient intake, vital signs, basic clinical support, and patient movement within EMT scope.
- Respond to emergency situations, codes, rapid responses, and requests for immediate assistance.
- Support safe transport of patients between departments, rooms, imaging, procedures, and discharge areas.
- Maintain readiness of stretchers, wheelchairs, emergency equipment, transport equipment, and assigned work areas.
- Communicate patient concerns, safety risks, or condition changes to licensed clinical staff.
- Assist with room turnover, supply restocking, specimen transport, and emergency department throughput as assigned.
- Follow infection prevention, patient identification, lifting, and safety procedures.
- Document assigned tasks and maintain professional communication with patients, families, and staff.
Scheduling and Availability
Full-time and part-time schedules may include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on facility coverage needs.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Current EMT certification required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Hospital, EMS, emergency department, or patient transport experience preferred.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and safely assist with patient movement.
- Strong teamwork, reliability, communication, and situational awareness.
