HIRING SPECIFICATIONS:
Required:
1. Experience in a leadership role in a high school or collegiate drumline.
2. Experience or training for percussion technique specific to marching battery and pit.
Desired:
1. Bachelor’s degree in music.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Direct drum line and work with band director in creating programs and opportunities for students.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Prepare audition materials and packets.
2. Visit middle schools and hand out audition material and recruit potential members.
3. Provide teaching expertise in the field of Marching Percussion with a competent knowledgeof battery (snare, tenor, bass, and cymbals) and Keyboard (Glockenspiel, Xylophone, Vibraphone, Marimba) instrument techniques.
4. Demonstrate a solid foundation in contemporary rudimental drumming concepts if asked to perform both improvised and sight-reading notation.
5. Available to attend all scheduled Percussion Rehearsals and Marching Band Performances/Rehearsals.
6. Provide a recommendation for proper sticks and mallet choices for appropriate tone production to enhance ensemble performance.
7. Possess a technical knowledge of equipment maintenance.
8. Ability to develop a technique and method booklet that meets the educational needs of the percussion section for both drumline and pit.
