- Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and automated systems
- Knowledge of school attendance and truancy laws preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills
- Valid Connecticut drivers' license
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Conduct investigations into student truancy.
- Make telephone calls to absent and truant students and/or guardians.
- Conduct home visits of students to encourage school attendance.
- Prepare and assist in attendance hearings.
- Create and maintain a data based system for tracking and documentation purposes of messages, home visits, and other intervention attempts.
- Maintain list(s) of chronically truant students.
- Maintain positive communication and interactions with parents, guardians, students, and other family members.
- Assist with development of attendance improvement plans.
- Assume such other functions as may be determined.

QUALIFICATIONS:
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To investigate students who are chronically truant and work with these students and their guardians to improve school attendance.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Seven hours per day, ten-month year. Salary is hourly.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
