Job Summary
The Booker T. Washington Summer Camp is a 7 week program that offers academic enrichment, art, drama, dance, recreation and field trips throughout the city. We are seeking an energetic, experienced and dedicated Summer Program Director to lead and oversee our dynamic summer camp so that our children can have the very best experience. This role is vital in creating engaging, enriching experiences for students while ensuring smooth program operations. The Summer Program Director will train and manage staff, coordinate curriculum delivery, plan field trips, and foster a positive learning environment that inspires curiosity and growth. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to shape young minds, develop leadership skills, and contribute to the summer experience of both campers and summer youth employees.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive summer program plans aligned with educational goals and student needs
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, including instructors, teaching assistants, and volunteers
- Coordinate daily activities inclusing academic enrichment, classes in the arts and field trips, ensuring all sessions are engaging, safe, and well-organized
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external partners to ensure program success
- Train, supervise and evaluate summer youth staff
- Manage logistics such as scheduling, resource allocation, and compliance with safety protocols
- Evaluate program outcomes through feedback collection and reporting to inform future improvement
Experience
- Previous summer camp experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead educational programs or camps with diverse groups of students
- Strong background in working with students of various ages, fostering inclusive and motivating learning atmospheres
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Prior experience in curriculum development or instructional planning is highly desirable
Pay: $1,200.00 per week
