This is a full-time hybrid role for a Medical Coding and Billing Specialist, located in Brooklyn, NY with some flexibility for remote work. The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist will handle tasks such as coding medical records, verifying patient information, billing insurance providers, addressing claims discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Daily responsibilities include reviewing documentation for accuracy, processing billing submissions, maintaining records, and communicating with healthcare providers, patients, and insurers to resolve issues and claims efficiently.
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing systems, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS
- Experience with insurance verification, claims processing, and addressing billing discrepancies
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information
- Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, insurers, and healthcare providers
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and common billing software
- Certifications such as CPC, CCA, or similar (preferred but not required)
