Qualifications: 1. A bachelor’s degree with academic training or experience in a specific teaching field 2. Valid certification in a specific teaching field from the Ohio Department of Education or evidence that one may obtained 3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Alternatives are not to exceed the above qualifications. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to office equipment chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to occasionally loud. According to the district’s Exposure Control Plan, the employee is determined not to be at risk to occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials. Essential Functions: Domain A – Organizes Content Knowledge for Student Learning 1. Is familiar with relevant aspects of students’ background knowledge and experiences 2. Articulate clear learning goals for the lesson that is appropriate for the students 3. Demonstrates an understanding of the connections between the content that was learned previously, the current content and the content that remains to be learned in the future 4. Creates or selects teaching methods, learning activities and instructional materials or technological resources that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson 5. Create or select evaluation strategies that are appropriate for the students and that are aligned with the goals of the lesson 6. Follow the approved course of study 7. Show evidence of daily lesson planning 8. Has supplies, materials and equipment ready for instruction Domain B – Creates an Environment for Student Learning 1. Create a climate that promotes fairness 2. Establish and maintain rapport with students 3. Communicate challenging learning expectations to each student 4. Establish and maintain consistent standards of classroom behavior through a variety of approaches 5. Make the physical environment as safe and conducive to learning as possible 6. Help students develop his/her positive self-image 7. Maintain a high rate of on-task behavior from students during the lesson 8. Emphasize the importance of student success in proficiency and/or local standardized tests Domain C – Teaches for Student Learning 1. Make learning goals and instructional procedures clear to students 2. Make content comprehensible to students 3. Encourage students to extend their thinking 4. Monitor students’ understanding of content through a variety of means, provide feedback to students to assist learning and adjust learning activities as the situation demands 5. Use instructional time effectively 6. Integrate technology into instruction as hardware and software are available Domain D – Teacher Professionalism 1. Reflect on the extent to which the learning goals are met 2. Demonstrate a sense of efficacy 3. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues to share teaching insights and to coordinate learning activities for students 4. Communicate with parents or guardians about student learning through interim reports, grade cards, conferences or other means 5. Maintain a record of attendance and punctuality which reflects a strong commitment to teaching 6. Salary : $40,000 - $80,000
