About the Role:
The Forklift Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of materials within a warehouse or distribution center. This position is responsible for operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment to load, unload, and transport goods accurately and promptly. The operator will contribute to maintaining inventory accuracy by performing order picking and using RF scanners to track products. Safety and adherence to operational protocols are paramount to prevent accidents and damage to goods or equipment. Ultimately, the Forklift Operator supports the overall supply chain process by facilitating smooth warehouse operations and timely order fulfillment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid forklift operator certification or license as required by OSHA standards.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and related warehouse equipment in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures and material handling best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret order sheets, labels, and RF scanner data.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electric pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts, and clamp trucks.
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
- Previous experience in order picking and shipping/receiving operations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and overtime as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, electric pallet jacks, stand-up forklifts, and clamp trucks to move materials within the warehouse safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload goods from trucks, ensuring proper stacking and securing of items to prevent damage during transport.
- Perform order picking using RF scanners and pallet jacks to accurately fulfill customer orders.
- Inspect forklifts and equipment daily to ensure they are in good working condition and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety guidelines and warehouse protocols.
