Substitute Custodians - East Greenwich Public Schools

The East Greenwich School Department is seeking applicants to work as Substitute Custodians in an on call/as needed basis. There are opportunities to work multiple days a week if not more. Under general supervision of the Head Custodian the Custodian keeps the school building in such a state of operating excellence that the buildings present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. The Custodian creates and follows a complex schedule for the performance of custodial duties. The Custodian is required to maintain assigned areas and equipment in a clean, orderly and secure manner. The Custodian does special cleaning and semi-skilled building maintenance periodically and performs routine specialized cleaning tasks during periods of student recess. The Custodian facilitates any and all other duties as assigned by administration necessary for school operation. •Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor. •Performs minor maintenance and repairs, (plumbing, electrical, painting) in building. •Immediately reports any vandalism or other damage to school property to his/her superior. •Assumes responsibility for the security of the building-all doors and windows locked and lights turned off as needed. •Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and places orders in advance so as not to hinder the continued performance of building custodial duties. •Complies with District Policies. •Assists in special events presentations, preparations or rentals. •Corrects minor safety hazards when observed and/or immediately refers major safety hazards to School Principals or supervisor. •Ensures that the building remains clean and in good repair. •Performs other related tasks as assigned or required.
