What are the responsibilities and job description for the Per Diem Custodians - East Greenwich School Department position at East Greenwich Schools?
The East Greenwich School Department is seeking to hire Substitute Custodians to work on an as-needed basis.
Under the general supervision of the Head Custodian, the Per Diem Custodian keeps the school building in such a state of operating excellence that the buildings present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. The per diem Custodian follows a complex schedule for the performance of custodial duties. The per diem Custodian is required to maintain assigned areas and equipment in a clean, orderly, and secure manner. The per diem Custodian does special cleaning and semi-skilled building maintenance periodically and performs routine specialized cleaning tasks during periods of student recess. The per diem Custodian facilitates any and all other duties as assigned by the administration necessary for school operation.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, morning, day, and evening shifts needed on an on-call basis. Long-term substitutes are needed.
Responsibilities:
Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by supervisor.
Maintains regular attendance.
Performs minor maintenance and repairs, (plumbing, electrical, painting) in building.
Immediately reports any vandalism or other damage to school property to his/her superior.
Assumes responsibility for the security of the building-all doors and windows locked and lights turned off as needed.
Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and places orders in advance so as not to hinder the continued performance of building custodial duties.
Complies with District Policies.
Assists in special events presentations and preparations.
Corrects minor safety hazards when observed and/or immediately refers major safety hazards to School Principals.
Ensures that the building remains clean and in good repair.
Performs other related tasks as assigned or required.
