What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean of Student Life - EGHS position at East Greenwich Schools?
Under the direction and supervision of the high school principal and assistant principal, the Dean of Student Life will support students to ensure that they meet school-wide expectations. The Dean of Student Life will provide supports for students and families that are consistent with the district's vision, mission, and strategic goals and assist with the planning, development, organization, management, and implementation of all aspects of child welfare, residency and attendance, discipline procedures and law, specific grant-funded programs, school security, and safety, along with social-emotional learning (SEL) interventions and accommodations. The position also collaborates with school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, and community partners to coordinate student interventions within the district's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Collaborate with the district staff and school administrators to implement research-based interventions which maximize the academic and behavioral achievement of students.
Collect, analyze and interpret data and performance measures for dissemination to improve the delivery of SEL interventions. Demonstrates an ability to diffuse difficult situations and seeks additional support when necessary.Active member of the 504 Team, to help accommodate the unique needs of students.Assists teachers/teams in designing and implementing Tier II and Tier III SEL interventions.Participates on the building leadership team (SIT, Liaisons and Administrative team meetings) to support the district's vision, mission, and goals. Responds quickly to emergency situations involving students and/or families. Assists the truancy officer with the policy and procedural planning, organization, and coordination of the district's student attendance/residency policies.
Serve as a key member of MTSS SEL implementation team. Serve as a liaison with other building coordinators to ensure systemic approach to MTSS SEL implementation.Collaborate with school counselors, school psychologists, school social workers, families, and community agencies to coordinate student supports, facilitate referrals, and strengthen implementation of the school's comprehensive MTSS and social-emotional learning framework Assist with supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunches, hallways, and school events.Participate in extracurricular and co-curricular supervision responsibilities as part of the shared administrative responsibilities of the building, as assigned.Support administration with coordinating lessons/activities across grade levels during the Advisory block in order to build/maintain a positive school culture. Assist in the implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to student behavior expectations and attendance and maintain appropriate documentation. Support administration with bus behavior referrals.
Responds to inquiries or concerns in a timely manner. Handles parent complaints professionally and effectively.Will serve as a complementary evaluator when needed. Other related duties as assigned by the building principal or assistant principal.
