LEAD SCHOOL NURSE
JOB SUMMARY:
The East Grand School District Lead School Nurse provides the oversight and administration of health
services and medical care in a rural public school setting that serves approximately 1200 students
from the towns of Winter Park,Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake and Hot Sulphur Springs. This position will
work between four schools, Fraser Elementary, Granby Elementary, East Grand Middle School and
Middle Park High School.

The East Grand School District Lead School Nurse provides the oversight and administration of health
services and medical care in a rural public school setting that serves approximately 1200 students
from the towns of Winter Park,Fraser, Granby, Grand Lake and Hot Sulphur Springs. This position will
work between four schools, Fraser Elementary, Granby Elementary, East Grand Middle School and
Middle Park High School.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as school nurse providing basic healthcare to students and staff in case of injury or acute
- Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
- Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene.
- Detect health problems in early stages through regular health screenings.
- Keep track of students' vaccination records.
- Update students' medical history.
- Ensure the school environment is safe for children and school staff.
- Ensure compliance with national and local health laws.
- Serve as liaison between school personnel, family, and community healthcare providers.
- Develop plans for student care based on assessment, interventions, and identification of
- Serve as consultant with other school professionals, such as food service personnel,
- Overseeing infection control measures.
- Actively participating in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying, and
- Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and the development of
- Oversee vision, hearing, body mass index, and mental health screening procedures.
- Provide health advice to school educational teams, such as the Committee on Special Education and

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS LEAD NURSE:
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support in developing, implementing, and coordinating local school
- Ensure all policies, procedures, and programs comply with legal and regulatory statutes as well as
- Regularly review, update, and revise health policies and procedures as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct CPR, AED, and First Aid training for staff, maintaining proper training records.
- Provide ongoing staff training on critical health topics, including seizure response, first aid, and other

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES AS LEAD NURSE CONT:
- Draft correspondence and communication regarding health matters such as disease outbreaks, policy
- Organize and oversee mass hearing and vision screenings within East Grand School.
- Schedule and coordinate district nurses’ assignments to ensure coverage and efficiency.
- Ensure district-wide compliance with health and safety regulations.
Administrative Duties & Grant Management:
- Maintain accurate immunization records and ensure timely reporting.
- Oversee health-related grant management and reporting requirements in collaboration with district
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or Building Principal.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a current/valid Colorado license in school nursing.
- At least two years of nursing patient care.
- Possession of, or willingness to obtain a Special Services Provider (SSP) from the CDE (Colorado
- Familiarity with school and public health systems.
- Granby, Colorado is located 110 miles NW of Denver and is 12 miles from the Winter Park Ski Area.
- This position consists of driving between schools.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation and feel comfortable driving in inclement weather conditions.
