Job Title: Youth Engagement Coordinator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual who is passionate about youth development and community engagement to serve as our Youth Engagement Coordinator. The Youth Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing youth-centered programming that promotes leadership development, civic engagement, and social-emotional learning. This role will support programming aligned with standards and initiatives of the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development, including engagement strategies similar to those supported through the YES Initiative. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and able to build strong relationships with youth, staff, and community partners.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and implement youth engagement programming that promotes leadership, mentorship, and civic participation.
Facilitate workshops and activities focused on social-emotional learning, conflict resolution, and youth leadership development.
Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of youth participants across various EFV youth initiatives.
Assist with the coordination of after-school, weekend, and seasonal youth programming including special events and community initiatives.
Provide mentorship and guidance to youth participants while fostering a safe and supportive program environment.
Maintain accurate attendance records, program documentation, and engagement data in accordance with reporting standards associated with the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development.
Collaborate with program staff, schools, and community partners to strengthen youth programming and outreach efforts.
Assist in coordinating youth-led projects that address community issues and promote civic engagement.
Support planning and logistics for youth events, workshops, and community forums.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and program development initiatives to strengthen youth programming.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Development, Education, Social Work, Community Development, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth in community-based programs, schools, or nonprofit organizations.
Experience facilitating youth workshops, mentoring young people, or coordinating youth programming.
Familiarity with youth development frameworks such as Positive Youth Development (PYD) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships with youth from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
