Position: Literacy Coach
Reports to: Principal
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for an Oklahoma teaching certificate.
- Have earned a Master's degree in Reading and Literacy (preferred).
- Meet all certification requirements, including teaching area endorsement in the State of Oklahoma.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal:
- To strengthen literacy curriculum and instruction, assuring consistency and coherence across the school site and communication of district expectations/practices.
- To serve as a mentor and guide for teachers through coaching, modeling research-based practices, and professional learning collaborations.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Support
- Serve on district literacy curriculum committees.
- Support implementation of district literacy curriculum adoptions/programs through co-planning, modeling, and co-teaching.
- Participate in literacy curriculum development when necessary.
Professional Learning
- Assist in the development/implementation of site professional development plans/processes.
- Implement peer coaching cycles to model/provide support for evidence-based literacy instructional practices.
Instructional Leadership
- Plan, facilitate, co-facilitate, and/or participate in instructional meetings e.g., regular planning meetings with teachers, data teams, MTSS meetings.
- Meet with the principals on a regular basis for communication and planning.
- Coordinate Strong Readers Act process (training, Intervention Plans, communication, train, schedule and support for Reading Tutors).
- Facilitate formative and summative assessment processes.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Employment Terms: Nine (9) months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Education’s policy on Staff Evaluation (2.20) and by Oklahoma State Law.
