What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Part Time Veterinary Technician position at East Coast Veterinary Services?
EXPERIENCED PART TIME hrs M-F) small animal veterinary technician needed for busy mixed animal practice. You MUST have experience with blood draws in dogs and cats, IV catheter placement, assisting with x-rays, reading fecal samples, and running bloodwork, etc. A CVT could be GREAT (You know who you are). You must be VERY comfortable restraining big dogs (pitbulls, German shepherds), small dogs, and cats. We pride ourselves on dremelling nails and ear cleanings. If you need help improving your techniques with that we can help you, but our best techs do great nails. We do very little surgery (no spays or neuters), no overnights and closed on weekends.
As our doctor sees horses, some equine knowledge would be a plus. Duties also include answering the phones efficiently and VERY politely, inventory, and general office duties. We are a very small office and we give very personalized attention to our clients and patients. Good client communication skills are a must as we love educating our clients about their four-legged family members. You must be able to multi-task, work efficiently and independently at times (especially when the veterinarian is on the road seeing horses and you'll be "holding down the fort" at the office). Hours are approximately 7:45 AM to 5 ish PM (we often get done earlier but occasionally run late) Monday through Friday. Hours can vary from 16-30 hours per week, depending on the schedule. If you're very experienced and only want to work Monday-Wednesday that could possibly work… Likewise, it possibly could turn into more hours, if you'ld like, but not immediately. In general, we see dogs and cats on Monday-Wednesday and sometimes Friday. Many Fridays you would have a half-day, split the day or be off. Our ideal candidate would live within 20 miles of the clinic. You must be EXTREMELY reliable, honest, able-bodied (able to lift 50 pounds with no health issues), get along well with others, enjoy the vet's 2 large dogs and you have to love your job Again, if you do not have experience mentioned above, you're probably not right for this job. We do not want to waste your time or ours, so please don't apply. If you are a hard-working, have the vet tech experience, a positive attitude and no drama... Please apply Please forward a cover letter or email (this gives us insight on your personality) with your resume with at least TWO references from previous veterinary or animal-related employers.
