Commercial Auto Insurance Agent - Portsmouth, VA
Insurance by the Coastal Agency, LLC is seeking a motivated Commercial Auto Insurance Agent to support and grow our commercial auto book of business. This role is centered on client service, account coordination, and policy management, supporting customers from initial inquiry through renewal.
This position is ideal for an insurance professional who enjoys working directly with clients, keeping accounts running smoothly, and playing a key role in the day-to-day success of commercial auto policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for commercial auto clients and prospects
- Follow up on leads and gather underwriting information
- Manage new business and renewal intakes
- Assist with quoting, policy issuance, endorsements, and renewals
- Prepare and issue Certificates of Insurance (COIs)
- Process policy changes, cancellations, and updates
- Respond to coverage questions and provide ongoing customer support
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation
- Coordinate with carriers, underwriters, brokers, and internal team members
Qualifications:
- Active Property & Casualty insurance license (Required)
- Commercial auto experience strongly preferred
- 5 years of experience in transportation markets strongly preferred
- Agency or underwriting experience preferred
- Proficiency with carrier portals, AMS/CRM systems, and Microsoft Office
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through
- Professional phone presence and customer-focused mindset
Preferred Skills:
- Strong organizational and account management skills
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently
- Tech-savvy and comfortable learning modern Insurtech platforms
- Team oriented, with the ability to work independently when needed
