Position Overview
The Quality Control Manager oversees all inspection, documentation, and compliance activities related to ASME Code fabrication under Sections I, II, IV, and IX. This individual ensures that all materials, weld procedures, and manufacturing processes meet applicable standards and that all QC documentation is maintained and audit-ready.
This role is central to our certification process, working directly with Authorized Inspectors (AIs), engineers, and production teams to uphold the highest quality and safety standards in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and execute all Quality Control (QC) functions in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, II, IV, and IX.
- Oversee inspection of incoming materials, in-process fabrication, and final product verification.
- Interpret and review design drawings, fabrication specifications, and weld maps.
- Verify weld procedures (WPS/PQR) and welder qualifications per Section IX.
- Perform dimensional inspections using calipers, weld gauges, micrometers, and precision tools.
- Maintain QC records, traveler packets, continuity logs, and test reports in compliance with ASME requirements.
- Coordinate inspections with the Authorized Inspector (AI) and prepare documentation for code stamping.
- Identify and document nonconforming items; lead corrective and preventive action processes.
- Support customer and third-party audits, ensuring documentation accuracy and readiness.
- Train and supervise QC personnel to maintain a consistent standard of quality and compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Quality Control or Inspection experience in ASME code fabrication or pressure vessel manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section I, II, IV, and IX (required).
- Ability to read and interpret design drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication blueprints.
- Experience with pressure vessel fabrication, welding processes, and material traceability.
- Proficiency with inspection tools such as calipers, weld gauges, and micrometers.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with emphasis on documentation and recordkeeping.
- Experience maintaining relationships with Authorized Inspectors and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of NDE methods (VT, PT, MT, RT) is beneficial.
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) certification preferred.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
