Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, dependable and safety conscious Medical Oxygen Assistant/Driver to join our team. This vital role involves the safe and efficient delivery of medical oxygen supplies to healthcare facilities, and other designated Provider locations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating various types of delivery vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, and providing excellent customer service. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting patients’ and providers through reliable oxygen supply delivery.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate delivery vehicles such as box trucks, vans, or personal vehicles to transport medical oxygen supplies.
- Load and unload oxygen cylinders and related equipment using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment like pallet jacks when necessary.
- Follow established routes efficiently while adhering to traffic laws, DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, and safety protocols.
- Ensure accurate documentation of deliveries, including verifying recipient details and obtaining signatures when required.
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform routine inspections, and report any mechanical issues promptly to ensure optimal operation.
- Provide courteous customer service by communicating clearly with clients, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally.
- Comply with all safety standards related to heavy lifting, manual handling, and weight handling in the workplace to prevent injuries.
- Preparing, handling and inspecting medical cylinders while complying and following all safety procedures and company standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, delivery driving, or courier services with a focus on safe manual handling practices.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving commercial trucks or box trucks preferred.
- Ability to operate and use mobile devices for navigation or communication purposes.
- Knowledge of route planning, traffic regulations, and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations applicable to commercial driving.
- Physical ability to lift heavy oxygen cylinders safely and perform manual handling tasks regularly.
- Experience with warehouse operations or material handling equipment such as pallet jacks or load/unload procedures is advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude when interacting with clients at various locations.
