Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression
- Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verifications accurately
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth, and others to ensure precise documentation review and data entry
- Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform medical billing using CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare guidelines
- Maintain patient records with strict adherence to HIPAA policies and clinical confidentiality standards
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear communication and appointment confirmations
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories
- Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining organized medical records
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and ensure timely patient care plans
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Receptionist in a clinical or dental office setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance processes, and health information management systems
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel; typing skills with 10-key proficiency preferred
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive information discreetly
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Experience with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), insurance verification, billing procedures, and Medicare guidelines is advantageous
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a busy clinic environment while maintaining professionalism at all times
