What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Site - Utility Project Estimator position at East Coast Contracting, Inc.?
This Position involves the estimating and management of site work and utility construction projects and will require the applicant to manage project budgets and schedules. Experience in Earthwork, Sewer, Water and Storm Drain, Lift Stations. We are not a building contractor. If you only have experience in building you need not apply.
Qualifications:
Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Develop a complete and accurate bid proposal including; quantity take-off, existing to proposed surface; crew composition; material and subcontractor pricing.
- Attend pre-bid meetings with the owner, vendors and subcontractors.
- Primary communicator with project owners and/or engineers.
- Experience in using Agtek Civil Software
- Procure materials and major equipment.
- Negotiate, secure and manage subcontracts.
- Compare bid pricing to historical data.
- Read, outline and communicate specifications and plans for superintendents and foremen.
- Manage site superintendents and vendors and subcontractors, ensuring projects are within budget and on time
- Manage numerous projects while simultaneously completing estimating duties.
- Develop and maintain project schedule. Prepare and maintain the project progress and budget.
- Change order pricing and negotiations
Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- 5 to 10 years' experience in site work and utility construction project management. A Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree is desirable.
- A record of successfully estimating and managing civil site and utility construction projects
- Have a working knowledge of means and methods, crew composition and production rates for all aspects of civil site and utility construction.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Project Standard scheduling software with the ability to adapt to a variety of computer applications.
- Cost accounting experience preferred.
- The ability to work with a team and independently to complete projects with in stated deadlines.
- Communicate effectively
- Follow and reinforce company safety policies
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be ambitious and self-motivated, with a can do attitude.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Compensation:
This is a full time salary position 40 hours a week and provides paid vacation, as well as the opportunity to participate in a 401k plan and health insurance.
