Position Summary
The Counselor is responsible for providing comprehensive mental health services, including individual counseling and crisis intervention, while collaborating with university stakeholders to support student wellness and academic success through prevention programs and outreach activities.
Essential Job Duties
• Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention services to enrolled students.
• Collaborate with university offices, faculty, staff, and community agencies to deliver outreach activities.
• Develop and implement educational prevention programs and consultations.
• Complete required documentation and paperwork in a timely manner.
• Engage in professional development to stay current with trends in higher education counseling.
• Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field with 2-4 years of experience
Licenses/Certifications
• Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
• Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly and establish therapeutic relationships with diverse populations
• Strong crisis intervention and management skills with ability to respond effectively to emergency situations
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with emphasis on active listening and empathy
• Proven cultural competence and ability to work with diverse student populations
• Strong organizational and time management skills to maintain accurate clinical documentation
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professional boundaries
• Skilled in developing and delivering educational programming and presentations
• Must have a strong work ethic and lead by example
• Must be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the community
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsible
• Ability to communicate in a courteous manner
