Tutor

In coordination with Rolling Hills Local Schools, the East Central Ohio ESC is seeking a tutor for the after school program at Cedar Ridge. Tutors work with students to provide educational support in reading and mathematics by using a variety of techniques including hands-on activities, technology, field trips and small group instruction to build upon the lessons taught in the traditional classroom setting. Minimum Qualifications: - Valid Ohio license or permit appropriate for the assignment - Record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment - Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred Responsibilities: The following duties and responsibilities are representative of performance expectations, but are not considered all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned as necessary. A reasonable accommodation may be to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions: - Creates and implements lesson plans that include reading and math development, character development, physical activity, and enrichment activities - Tutors small groups of students to develop their cognitive abilities and improve upon their academic skills - Works to build student self-esteem and motivation through positive reinforcement - Collaborates with school staff to develop positive relationships with students and align learning strategies with academic goals - Prepares and implements enrichment activities in coordination with the 21st Century Site Coordinator - Provides a positive learning environment for students requiring flexibility and patience - Analyzes student performance and provides reports on student progress - Meets with parents and/or student’s teacher as needed Additional Details: Up to 5 hours per week Interested candidates should submit a resume and letter of interest to Nanette McFadden, Executive Director of HR via email – nanette.mcfadden@ecoesc.org.
