| Primary Function of Organizational Unit | East Carolina University, a designated R1 research institution, exemplifies how higher education drives public impact through the generation and application of knowledge. Faculty and students collaborate across disciplines and with community, industry, and government partners to conduct research, scholarship, and creative work that leads to new technologies, advancements in healthcare and education, and innovative solutions to vexing challenges. By bringing translational research into classrooms, industry, and communities, ECU fosters a culture where knowledge is co-created and applied. The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration, and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU, while leading economic and community engagement initiatives through partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, the military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. REDE supports this mission through units focused on research administration, compliance, development, and innovation, overseeing research compliance and strategy, developing institutional research policy, and managing sponsored projects. The Office of Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) builds bridges between East Carolina University and the public by providing access to non-curricular professional development resources that engage, educate, and expand learning opportunities. The focus of the office is to provide high-quality non-credit professional development to businesses, industry, the military, public sector organizations, and other entities for developing a suite of offerings that advance regional transformation and economic development opportunities in eastern North Carolina and other regions. |
| Job Duties | The Office of Continuing and Professional Education is seeking applications for short-term Instructional Consultants (.74FTE or less) to lead one or more non-credit courses during the year. The Instructional Consultant will develop and/or deliver noncredit continuing education courses. This includes but is not limited to: coordination of course materials, content delivery, collecting attendance sign-in sheets and providing evaluation surveys, providing a copy of the course agenda and course materials 7 days before the course starts. Contingent upon the availability of funds. |
