We are seeking a bright, energetic, flexible, curious, and purpose-driven leader to join our nonprofit rental housing organization. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about housing and real estate and want to expand their expertise in local housing laws and property management practices. This position is based in Oakland California and occasional requires travel throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Knowledge of local housing compliance, real estate, and/or rental property management experience needed.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Marketing & Growth, is responsible for building community and leading EBRHA’s member growth engine (from $1.5M to $3M ), which includes driving new member acquisition while strengthening the systems that support public engagement and long-term member retention. Using the latest AI and automation tools, this role is directly accountable to EBRHA’s revenue growth by driving measurable increases in new member acquisition, sponsorship pipeline development, and marketing-sourced revenue. Success will be evaluated based on the role’s ability to consistently generate qualified leads and improved conversion rates that support overall organizational revenue targets
This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, translating EBRHA’s mission, policy work, and industry expertise into clear, compelling campaigns that expand our reach across housing providers, property management companies, and industry partners throughout the East Bay and beyond.
Ownership
This ideal candidate will have prior experience driving new member/customer growth and building systems that scale engagement and support retention. The role will own, but not limited to the following:
- Designing and executing campaigns to drive new member acquisition; create and manage budgets and a quarterly marketing calendar
- Building targeted outreach strategies and programs (property managers, owners, industry partners, municipal leaders)
- Developing partnerships and channels that expand EBRHA’s reach, including event opportunities, and legislator outreach
- Designing and optimizing the new member journey (lead → join → engage), ensuring seamless member success
- Designing and building pipeline development, onboarding campaign, and engagement systems that increase retention
- Improving conversion across email, web, events, and partnerships
- Strengthening EBRHA’s voice across platforms (email, social media, magazine, events, legislative chamber sessions)
- Translating complex housing issues into clear, compelling messaging and strong calls to action
- Supporting high-impact campaigns tied to advocacy, industry issues, and policy framing
- Tracking and reporting on growth metrics (leads, conversions, retention—small owners/operators)
- Leveraging AI tools for higher performance; use data to refine campaigns and improve ROI; building dashboards that inform decision-making
- Managing external partners: designers, editors, content creators, and legislators (as needed)
- Collaborating closely with internal teams across revenue, operations, programs and committees
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing communications, business administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Solutions oriented and a track record of creative problem solving in a growing business environment
- 5-10 years of driving customer/member acquisition; account success or related function (B2B or B2C)
- Strong understanding and use of funnel, campaign, and conversion management practices using AI tools/applications
- Ability to simplify complex topics into clear messaging and calls to action
- Background in housing, real estate, property management or related industries
- Experience managing external vendors/consultants and directing cross-functional small teams
- Experience in associations, nonprofits or mission-driven organizations
- Proficiency in AI and CRM tools, Excel, Word, Google Drive (G-Suite) a must
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, especially in outreach campaigns
- Ability to collect, track, and analyze large amounts of data; report generation
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
