What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Age Educator position at East Bay Community Action Program?
East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking part-time (20 hours per week) or per-diem School Age Childcare Educators for our before (6:15 - 8:30 am) and after (2:30 - 6:00 pm) school licensed childcare program at the Pell Elementary School in Newport, RI, operated by the Newport Family & Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ) Program.
Our Champion Childcare program is a 5 Star rated program by the Bright Stars quality rating system. It is a play-based program that provides high-quality expanded learning opportunities and supports student growth and development. NFCOZ provides programs and services to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement curriculum and thematic activities for their assigned classrooms at Pell Elementary School.
- Develop and implement a nurturing environment for the children
- Supervise children and ensure safety while attending assigned sessions.
- Communicate with families
- Assist to supervise and direct childcare teacher assistants.
- Support students who are identified as needing additional resources and interventions in coordination with classroom teachers and specialists
- Assist the NFCOZ Site Coordinator to offer students a broad array of activities that reinforce and complement the regular academic program and that support connections to school
- Assisting students to develop 21st Century skills and contribute to students social and emotional growth.
Qualifications:

Minimum of an Associates Degree or 60 college credits in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or Human Services, or a related field and at least two (2) years of supervised experience working in a licensed/approved early childhood or school age childcare program.
