Locations: EBAT Office in Oakland as well as community-based sites throughout the East Bay area.
Job description
Clinical Responsibilities
· Provide individual and group art therapy services with ages 4 and up (pre-teens, adolescents, and adults) in a private practice setting, with a variety of presenting issues. (We are vendors of Regional Center: Many of your clients will be individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities including those with higher support needs.)
· When working with minor clients, provide parent consultation.
· Facilitate at least 2 off-site community-based art therapy groups in the East Bay (exact locations TBD)
· Conduct a minimal number of home-based 1:1 sessions in the East Bay.
· Ensure services and treatment are culturally sensitive/competent/informed in regards to all types of identities, especially those that are marginalized (gender, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, body size, disability, etc) Must be anti-racist, LGBTQIA affirming, disability justice-oriented, and working towards dismantling all systems of oppression including fatphobia.
· Conduct services in-person with option to do some telehealth only if requested by the client/family.
· Encouraged to offer art therapy/creative arts interventions with all clients. (Clients seek out East Bay Art Therapy because they want to do art therapy!)
· Write art therapy group curriculum and submit to clinical supervisor.
· Complete a comprehensive assessment of patient's mental health history and collaborate with the client to identify treatment goals. Complete treatment plans for all individual clients.
· Assess and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Assist individuals to deal with problems ranging from short-term issues to persistent mental illness.
· Monitor client’s progress and ensure their voice/choice in treatment. Analyze and interpret new/updated information about the client to reassess needs.
· Identify needs, link to available resources, and modify the treatment plan as needed.
· Maintain up to date case files within electronic health record (HER-Simple Practice)
· Work within the limits of their qualifications, education, and skills
· Value, support and respect the rights of others
· Be punctual and maintain a professional attitude toward their tasks
· Immediately notify the supervisor if unable to work due to health or other reasons
· Maintain confidentiality and privacy with regards to organizational, client, and other information of a confidential nature. Adhere to HIPAA standards.
· Represent East Bay Art Therapy accurately and positively at all times.
· Ensure timely documentation of sessions through progress notes and timely return phone calls and emails from clients/parents.
· Conduct phone consultations with potential client inquiries if requested by client/family.
· Adhere to all standards of practice outlined by the ATCB (Art Therapy Credentials Board) and BBS if also registered/licensed with BBS.
Organizational Responsibilities
· Complete and pass a criminal reference check, drug screening, and a vulnerable sector search, if required.
· Complete and return all East Bay Art Therapy registration documents as indicated on the orientation checklist
· Read, sign, and honor East Bay Art Therapy’s confidentiality and conflict of interest agreements
· Meet monthly with private practice team and entire EBAT team for consultation. (If you have your ATR-Provisional, you will meet weekly with art therapy clinical supervisor) If AMFT/APCC, meet 1 hour weekly for every 10 clinical hours).
· Read and adhere to all East Bay Art Therapy policies and procedures
· Address areas of conflict or concern in accordance with East Bay Art Therapy’s policies
· Complete all documentation of their work according to East Bay Art Therapy standards
· Maintain accurate record of work hours and tasks completed, in progress, and assigned
· Carry out assigned tasks responsibly. Request support when needed
· Participate in evaluations when asked by their supervisor
· Attend any designated training or orientation assigned by their supervisor
· Report any health and safety concerns to their supervisor
· Provide appropriate and adequate advanced notice (3-4 weeks preferred for client termination) of intention to leave the organization
Minimum Required Qualifications
· Have current ATR-P, ATR, or ATR-BC and Masters Degree in Art Therapy
· Minimum 1 year post graduate clinical experience providing art therapy services.
· Ability to provide compassionate, empathic, and ethical service
· Good standing with the ATCB, BBS, and malpractice insurance entities.
· Ability to be creative and innovative in clinical role
· Be able to work independently, especially with technology after basic training
· Excellent time management skills
· Have access to a reliable computer and if conducting virtual sessions from home: internet, audio and video equipment
· Confidence, experience and passion for working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
· Confidence, experience and passion for working with clients that may struggle with trauma, self-harm and suicidality. Preferred: the same for disordered eating and substance use.
· Confidence, experience, and passion for using art therapy interventions.
· Reliable vehicle and CA Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications
· BIPOC and/or member of a marginalized community/identity and/or lived experienced that informs clinical work.
· Fully licensed as an LMFT or LPCC in addition to Art Therapy credentials.
· Trained in a post-master’s therapy modality such as EMDR, IFS, DBT, DIR FloorTime, etc.
· Bilingual in Spanish
· Member of a marginalized community/identity and/or lived experienced that informs clinical work.
Pay:
Part Time:
$50-80 per hour for all billable clinical hours conducting individual therapy.
$60-90 per hour for all billable clinical hours conducting group or family/couples therapy.
Full Time:
$60-90 per hour for all billable clinical hours conducting individual therapy.
$70-100 per hour for all billable clinical hours conducting group or family/couples therapy.
ALL STAFF: $22 per hour for all admin hours (1 admin hour per 5 clinical hours for documentation. Consult calls, training, art therapy supervision, team meetings, and group curriculum planning are all paid at admin rate)
