- Assists in maintaining a diverse, high performance workforce by performing administrative duties related to recruitment, selection, hiring, placement and orientation.
- Coordinates the staffing process for all positions requiring State Department of Education certification or licensure as well as other school-based positions.
- Conducts annual staffing meetings with school administrators to determine staffing needs based on student projections and programmatic needs.

- Stays current with all aspects of vocational certification for instructional and administrative personnel
- Keeps up to date on legislative and State Board of Education changes that impact requirements for personnel.
- Assists in preparation for Board approval: resignations, retirements, transfers, leaves, appointments and reappointments of personnel in assigned areas.
- Ensures compliance with certification/licensure requirements to meet federal guidelines for teacher highly qualified status.
- Works cooperatively with other staff members in the recruiting and interview processes.
- Coordinates and monitors hiring and employment documentation.
- Establishes and manages position control processes.
- Participates in the planning, coordination and implementation efforts of the district’s transfer fair.
- Works cooperatively with other staff members in designing and implementing programs for new hires and existing employees.
- Serves as liaison with DOE certification section officials, building administrators, staff, and counselors at local colleges and universities.
- Represents the Office of Human Resources on interview committees for selection of administrative positions.
- Investigates allegations of employee misconduct and makes recommendations to the Associate Superintendent for Human Resources.
- Cooperates with Principals, Assistant Principals and other appropriate administrative staff members by coordinating, recommending and advising them of investigative activities, and proper practices/procedures necessary to report the outcome of an internal investigation.
- Provides training to principals and district administrators on the interpretations /adherence of laws, certification and highly qualified status for employees.
- Works with the District’s accountability reports in reconciling certification and highly qualified deficiencies as reported to the Louisiana State Department of Education.
- Supervises the daily work of the personnel specialist.
- Confers and corresponds with teachers, principals and others on general personnel matters.
