- POSITION SUMMARY
- Performs all duties associated with the delivery of sterilized surgical instrumentation and the disinfection of medical devices for use in patient care areas. These duties require achieving competencies in decontamination, prep and packaging, sterilization, storage and distribution. Supports services in patient care areas by promoting highest quality reprocessing. Assembles case carts and supplies for Perioperative Services. Restocks and issues specialty carts, crash carts and issues requisitioned medical devices throughout EAMC.
- POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum Experience
- N/A
- Required Registration/License/Certification
- Employee must become a certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (preferably by CBSPD, Inc.) within 24 months of CS employment.
- After initial 12 months of employment, employee will be given at least four consecutive testing opportunities to pass the examination.
- Achieving certification is a condition of continued employment.
- IAHCSMM/HSPA certification is also acceptable.
