Dozer Operator

EARTHWORKS Grading & Paving, LLC
Las Vegas, NV Full Time
POSTED ON 10/21/2026

Build What Lasts. We are an earth moving contractor looking for skilled, driven, growth-minded construction professionals who want to be recognized as much more than a number. We are not interested in one-off, transactional work, and we feel the same way about hiring. We are building a long-term team of leaders, not filling slots.

Our Values:

- Integrity: Straightforward, transparent, and true to our word.

- Spirit: Energy, purpose, and a relentless drive.

- Accountability: In our commitments, regardless of results.

- Excellence in Execution: Disciplined and consistent.

- Social Responsibility: We care about the bigger picture and the impact of our work.

Why Work With Us:

Your work directly shapes the future of this company. We're hiring an experienced Dozer Operator with strong finish-grade skills on a D6 for commercial sitework in the Las Vegas area. From pushing fill to cutting slopes, pads, and parking lots to grade, the dozer sets up the site for every crew that follows. This role is for a professional who takes pride in precision, safety, and teamwork. We invest in the operators who deliver, and we're building leaders for the long term, not filling seats.

Responsibilities:

Finish Grading: Cut finish grade to ±0.05' (half a tenth) consistently across pads, parking lots, roads, and other sitework. Use GPS, laser, or stakes to hit tight tolerances and leave smooth, uniform surfaces. Make fine adjustments for drainage, slopes, and transitions to meet plan and spec.

Rough Grading and Earthmoving: Cut and fill to rough grade within ±0.10' (a tenth). Cut 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 slopes to plan, and track-walk and shape them to a clean, uniform finish. Push, spread, and place fill in even lifts for compaction. Build pads, rip hard material, and maintain stockpiles and haul roads. Work with the water truck and roller crew to meet moisture and compaction requirements.

Execute to Plan and Spec: Read and interpret plans, stakes, and grade sheets. Follow direction from the Foreman or Superintendent, and clarify any discrepancies before proceeding. Coordinate with survey and layout crews to verify elevations and alignments. Anticipate upcoming work areas so machine time is used efficiently.

Support the Crew: Work closely with grade checkers, laborers, truck drivers, and other operators to keep production moving. Adjust to different supervisors and personalities while staying professional and solution-focused. Help on the ground when needed: checking grade, spotting trucks, and setting simple stakes.

Safety: Keep the people working around your machine safe, every shift, especially the grade checkers on the ground. Stay aware of blind spots, ground personnel, and other equipment, and use extra care when reversing and working on slopes and fill edges. Use three points of contact on and off equipment. Follow safe start-up, shutdown, and parking procedures, company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific rules. Take part in daily tailgate meetings, and report unsafe conditions, near-misses, and incidents immediately.

Equipment Care and Inspection: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including fluids, tracks, undercarriage, cutting edges, ripper, hydraulics, lights, and backup alarm. Complete inspection forms or digital checklists accurately and on time. Handle basic preventive maintenance like greasing and minor adjustments, and keep the cab and compartments clean. Report mechanical issues before they become major problems.

Requirements:

- Proven experience operating a D6 dozer on commercial or civil projects (finish grading required).

- Ability to hold finish grade to ±0.05' and rough grade to ±0.10'.

- Experience cutting and finishing 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 slopes.

- Experience on pads, parking lots, roadways, and similar sitework.

- Strong eye for detail: you can see the grade before it's built.

- Solid understanding of construction math, including elevations, slopes, and cuts and fills.

- Ability to read grading plans, cut sheets, and stakes GPS or laser machine control experience is a plus.

- Reliable, on time, and willing to work overtime and Saturdays as the project requires.

- Valid driver's license OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 card.

- Dependable transportation to jobsites in the Las Vegas area.

- Ability to pass required drug screening.

- Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This is outdoor work in heat, cold, wind, dust, and noise. The role involves frequent climbing on and off equipment, long periods of sitting, and precise control of the machine over long shifts. All required PPE must be worn every shift without being reminded.

What We Offer:

- Competitive Pay: $38 per hour, based on experience and skill.

- Real Training: Learn directly from leadership with decades of heavy civil experience. We sharpen grade, plans, production, and safety the right way, on real projects.

- A Path to Level Up: We train operators into lead operators, foremen, and beyond. If you want to lead crews, run jobs, or learn the business side of construction, we'll put in the time to get you there.

- No Jobsite Politics: Everyone gets treated with respect from day one. No favoritism, no inner circles, no seniority games. You're judged on your work and how you treat people.
