What are the responsibilities and job description for the Apprentice Equipment Operator position at Earthwork Services?
Position Details
- This position will teach you how to operate excavation equipment
- The apprentice assists Equipment Operators by performing assigned tasks under the direct supervision of an assigned Operator or Supervisor
- Prior to operating equipment, will assist in routine inspections to identify needed maintenance or repairs
- Maintains records of time worked and materials used
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Competitive wages based on experience
- 40 hours per week during spring, summer, and fall
Required Skills/Abilities
- No experience required
- Valid driver's license and must have a clean driving record
- Class A license is preferred, however not required
- Knowledge of soils and compaction a plus
- Ability to read construction staking or the willingness to learn
- A basic understanding of plan reading or the willingness to learn
- Basic construction surveying knowledge or the willingness to learn
- Willingness to understand and accept safety standards
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form
- Must maintain flexibility in the schedule during the busy season
- Willingness to work hard and be reliable
