BIM Coordinator - Commercial HVAC
We are looking for an experienced BIM Coordinator to provide dedicated BIM, detailing, and coordination support for commercial HVAC projects.
Our client is a full-service mechanical contractor serving the commercial, residential, and industrial sectors, delivering innovative, energy-efficient heating and air conditioning, automation and controls, industrial piping, new construction design and installation, and maintenance and replacement services.
The BIM Coordinator will play a key role in taking mechanical designs from coordination through to fabrication and installation.
Responsibilities will include:
- Model and detail commercial mechanical systems using Autodesk Revit, with a focus on ductwork, mechanical water piping, and refrigerant piping.
- Develop LOD 400 models and shop drawings to support fabrication and field installation.
- Produce detailed spool drawings for pipe fabrication, including cut lengths, material lists, and accessory dimensions.
- Lead, assist with, and participate in clash detection and coordination meetings using Autodesk Navisworks.
- Identify and resolve clashes while ensuring designs are practical and feasible for field installation.
- Provide technical support, problem resolution, and drawing interpretation to field teams and project managers.
- Ensure BIM models and drawings are accurate, coordinated, and delivered in line with project schedules.
Ideal skills and experience:
- Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit and Navisworks.
- Solid understanding of commercial mechanical HVAC systems, ductwork routing, and mechanical/refrigerant piping principles.
- Experience producing fabrication-level detailing and LOD 400 models.
- Strong understanding of prefabrication and constructability.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to confidently work with field crews, project managers, engineers, and external trade contractors.
