What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Electrical Technician position at EarthRoamer?
EarthRoamer is looking for a self-motivated, skilled, hardworking Production Electrical Technician to join our Production Team. Ideal applicants will have experience or training in 12V and 24V DC, with a focus on automotive electrical, specifically Ford and Chevy. This includes installation of stereos, GPS trackers, Lighting and other/after-market accessories. Knowledge of ForScan or other automotive scanning tools is a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Install and test various electrical appliances including heating and cooling controls, electrical breaker panels, system monitors, and audio/visual equipment.
- Install electrical outlets, switches, televisions and other components in a clean and serviceable manner.
- Install and test various Chevy and Ford chassis wiring systems including relay and fuse panels, factory upfitter connections, video interface, head units, build wiring harnesses, and run wiring in a clean organized manner.
- Install electrical connections such as Deutsch connectors, Weather Pack plugs and butt connectors. Read and follow installation instructions.
- Bench build systems to be later installed.
- Pre-wire for later phases.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Must possess mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to learn quickly.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Willingness to learn and complete tasks correctly.
- Must be able to identify and install various types of terminals and connectors. Deutsch regular and mini, Weather Pack, cable lugs, ring terminals, butt splices etc.
- Knowledge of how relays, diodes, and resistors work
- Work well individually and as a member of a team.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities are a must.
- Be solution focused.
Job Qualifications
- Experience or training in 12V/24V DC/automotive electrical is required.
- Experience in power tool operation (drills, grinders, reciprocating saws, etc.)
- Experience with voltmeters, continuity testing, soldering, tape measures
- Ability to read wiring diagrams
- Test systems in vehicles and verify proper operation.
- 2-4 years' experience required.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Technical school training desired
Job Details
- Current shift runs 7:00-3:30 Monday-Friday.
- This is a full-time position requiring consistent dependable attendance.
- This position is non-exempt, and therefore eligible for overtime pay.
- The position may require some work outside of normal business hours, paid as overtime.
- This position reports directly to the Production Manager
- Starting wage $24-27 / hour.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
- The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Fast-paced production environment.
- Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting (weights up to 75 lbs.) and stretching.
- Requires climbing or working on ladders or scaffold up to 10 feet high.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate a hand and power tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Requires a normal range of hearing to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery and alarms).
- Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to work with small objects, read small print, use computers.
