What are the responsibilities and job description for the Design Engineer position at Earth Retention?
Earth Retention is hiring a Design Engineer to join our Woodstock, GA engineering team. We design and supply retaining wall solutions nationwide — MSE walls, block walls, gravity walls, soldier pile systems — with an in-house engineering team licensed in 40 states.
The Role:
You'll design retaining walls for contractors, developers, and state DOTs across the country. This is production-oriented engineering — calculations, design drawings, material take-offs, client coordination, and seeing your work go to construction. Final stamped drawings are reviewed, approved, and sealed by our licensed PEs.
What You'll Work With:
- Proprietary design tools built in-house (Vespa, AWall, EZER Toolbar)
- Industry-standard software (MSEW, ReSSA, Slide, L-Pile, AutoCAD)
- All trained on the job — no prior experience with our tools required

Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
- 0–5 years experience; strong new graduates encouraged to apply
- EIT certification preferred (required for recent graduates)
- Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- Strong foundation in soil mechanics, structural analysis, and geotechnical principles
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and eager to learn
