Position: Early Childhood Behavioral & Mental Health Coach
Status: Hourly
Salary Range: $42,500 to $50,000
Reports to: Director of Provider Quality & Child Development
POSITION SUMMARY: The Early Childhood Behavioral & Mental Health Coach provides training, coaching, technical assistance, and data-driven support to School Readiness (SR) and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) educators. This role focuses on strengthening nurturing, responsive environments for children from birth to 5.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provide individualized coaching, classroom modeling, and technical assistance to birth-to-five educators.
· Support implementation of developmentally appropriate, evidence-based behavioral and social-emotional practices.
· Model relationship-based strategies to address challenging behaviors and embed social-emotional learning into daily routines.
· Administer, interpret, and guide educators in using the Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA) and other approved assessments and curricula to develop individualized action plans.
· Monitor child and educator progress through ongoing data collection, documentation, and pre/post assessments.
· Design and deliver professional development and training on behavioral health and social-emotional learning.
· Facilitate reflective coaching conversations and evaluate coaching and training effectiveness to support continuous quality improvement.
· Support family engagement by helping educators communicate assessment results and behavioral strategies effectively.
· Collaborate with program leadership to promote social-emotional learning, educator wellness, and continuous improvement.
· Partner with internal teams and community organizations to develop, implement, and enhance behavioral health initiatives.
· Maintain accurate documentation of coaching activities, assessment data, provider progress, training outcomes, and grant reporting requirements.
· Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position performs its essential functions both inside and outside the office, visiting the child in their environment to complete screening and assessment or to interact with parents and providers.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Staff will on occasion lift items up to 25 lbs. while completing functions.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time exempt position. The hours of operation of the Coalition are 7AM-6PM Monday through Thursday, and 8AM-12PM on Fridays. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
TRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in mental health, social work, counseling, behavioral health, special education, or a closely related field, and a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with young children to support behavioral health
· Knowledge of early childhood development and developmentally appropriate practices, and understanding adult learning principles and/or resilience strategies
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting to groups
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Certification or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Conscious Discipline, or similar frameworks
· Experience working on grant-funded initiatives
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and problem-solve in complex environments
