POSITION:     Temporary: Special Education Preschool Teacher

LOCATION:     Early Learning Center

SCHEDULE:     Remainder of 2025-2026 School Year

SALARY:         Based on the current Certificated Salary Schedule

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with special education endorsement
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record
• Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality
• Ability to develop rapport and communicate well with students, parents, and staff
• Knowledge of visual strategies and visual schedules/supports
  Successful leadership with paraeducators to plan, coach and train
• Ability to design and implement compliant standards-based IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans
• Experience or demonstrated knowledge of implementing multi-tiered interventions for academics, behavior, and social skills
• Ability to plan specially designed embedded learning opportunities for students with a range of disabilities in the preschool setting
• Ability to design and implement effective data collections systems for ongoing monitoring of student progress
• STAR/ABA experience and planning SDI for students on the autism spectrum or willing to learn
• Experience planning and supporting part C to B transition
• Willing to be involved in preschool assessments

The candidate must demonstrate commitment to student success while aligning with state requirements and the school’s guiding principles, vision, and mission. The candidate must also demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with all students. The candidate must be willing to participate in required trainings and professional development, implement best practices that foster meaningful learning experiences, work within a system that supports student interventions, and collaborate with relevant staff members to enhance student outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: 

• Bilingual/Biliterate* in English/Spanish
• Early childhood special education endorsement
• Previous successful classroom teaching experience working with students with a variety of disabilities
• Teaching experience in preschool
• Familiarity with AEPS, Battelle, and STAR
• Training and/or experience in Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) or willingness to learn
