Position Overview:
Alexandria Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide high-quality instruction and support to young learners with diverse abilities. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment that fosters growth in all developmental areas and aligns with each child’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide developmentally appropriate instruction to children ages 3–5 with identified special needs.
- Implement and adapt lessons to meet individualized goals outlined in students’ IEPs.
- Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support student learning and growth.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress, attendance, and daily activities.
- Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional collaboration sessions as needed.
- Ensure a safe, engaging, and positive classroom environment.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with parents/guardians and school staff.
- Follow district policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
