What are the responsibilities and job description for the 1:1 Nurse - Substitute position at Early Childhood?
The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a 1.0 FTE nurse to support an individual student complex medical needs throughout their day, including transportation.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate on the development of the student’s IHCP (Individualized Health Care Plan).
- Provide nursing care only for the student to whom they are assigned within the classroom and during transit to and from school.
- Actively engage in nursing care and observation of the student. (For example, the 1:1 nurse will refrain from texting, reading or engage in any other personal activities not related to his/her professional responsibilities while on duty).
- Support student during activities as appropriate.
- Work with ECC nurse to obtain all orders for medications and treatment necessary to provide nursing care for the student during the school day. The 1:1 nurse may contact the ordering physician and/or primary care provider to clarify orders for medications and treatments,in consultation with the ECC nurse.
- Provide copies of current orders and any pertinent documentation to the building School Nurse for the student health record, and to update the student’s IHCP.
- Provide nursing care for the student during the entire school day which may be modified as needed. (Should the 1:1 Nurse require time away from the student, she/he must communicate directly with the building school nurse and classroom teacher to develop a safe plan in their absence).
- If student is absent, the 1:1 nurse will be assigned other nursing duties within the district.
Location: Early Childhood Center
Hours: 8am - 12pm, Monday - Friday
Schedule: Follows the Sharon Public Schools Calendar
Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with The Sharon Teacher's Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
RN or LPN licensure required.
