POSITION SUMMARY: To assist in providing a safe and caring environment where children’s natural excitement for exploring, discovering, and learning are nurtured; to provide a good foundation for elementary school, in accordance with each child’s ability; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Location: Eureka and Fenton Preschool Classrooms - Full Day Preschool Room
Position Schedule: Mon-Fri (8:30a to 4:30p)
Pay Range: $17.71

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in implementing a program that maintains the preschool philosophy and curriculum
- Relates, communicates, and interacts with children with patience and compassion
- Interacts effectively with staff and families in the program
- Completes 12 hours of in-service each year.
- Maintains CPR and First Aid Certification
- Maintain ethical behavior and confidentiality about students
- Performs any other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to assist in providing an encouraging, caring, and safe environment for children
- Ability to assist teacher by setting up activities, preparing instructional materials, and documenting student progress
- Ability to assists students in physical tasks such as positioning, feeding, toileting, diapering and self-help skills
- Ability to assists with individual and small student groups
- Ability to assume responsibility, respect, confidentiality and patience and compassion with young children
- Ability to assume the responsibilities of the Teacher/Teacher Assistant when the Teacher /Teacher Assistant is absent
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to judge when situations and/or information should be called to the attention of the supervisor
- Ability to learn and implement preschool curricular strategies
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Ability to supervise and interact with children on their level (bending, stooping, lifting, and sitting on the floor) across settings as assigned (classroom, playground, gym, lunch, crisis management)
- Ability to work in a variety of locations and travel throughout the building(s), including playgrounds, lunch rooms and hallways
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- College credit hours preferred/High School graduate required
- Experience working with children in a similar setting preferred
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position
