Home Visitor - Bilingual Spanish Required* (ECEAP) @ ECEAP 8.0 hours/day

 

     Job Description

  • Contribute to the development of positive communication, mutual respect, mutual

support, competence, and creativity among all members of the ECEAP staff.

  • Organize and conduct ongoing recruitment to ensure full enrollment in the ECEAP center. In collaboration with other site staff, participates in ongoing recruitment.
  • Organize and conduct enrollment activities, interview parents to determine program

eligibility, verify income, and obtain necessary parent permission for ECEAP activities.

  • Collaborate with site staff, organize and conduct parent orientations to ECEAP, including orienting parents on their rights and responsibilities in ECEAP and explaining relevant ECEAP policies and curriculum approaches.
  • Assist families in recognizing their strengths, support them in setting goals, and plan

how to meet the goals through the development of a Family Partnership Plan.

  • Work in partnership with families to overcome barriers, meet their stated goals, and

achieve economic success and prosperity.

  • Provide family support services through at least three hours of contact with each family during the program year.
  • Visit homes of families as appropriate for the purpose of enrolling children in the program, interviewing parents, informing parents of school and/or community resources, and providing child development and parenting information.
  • Collect and identify health and nutrition information, including medical, dental, immunization records, and other information from parents and health providers for the purpose of providing health summaries and information reports to staff and coordinators, and refer to health treatment as appropriate.
  • Develop individualized child health and/or nutrition plans, as necessary, for the purpose of supporting and child’s success in school. At the end of the school year, evaluate and document in the child’s file the family’s experience with working on their child’s health plan.
  • Provide support to families experiencing a crisis and refer them to emergency assistance and crisis intervention providers, as appropriate. Partner with parents for the purpose of assisting with access to health providers, obtaining exams, identifying obstacles to completing exams, and securing appropriate treatment and follow-up on referrals for children.
  • Promote parent, staff, and community partnerships in the ECEAP program through various methods (e.g., parent meetings, parent leadership, Parent Professional Development opportunities, newsletters, parent trainings, home visits, volunteer opportunities and other strategies.) Encourage parents to participate in decisions concerning the education of their children and support families involved in site leadership activities.
  • Provide or assist with providing health screening, immunization verifications, and outside agency referrals (e.g. hearing, vision, immunization compliance, height/weight relationships, etc.) for the purpose of promoting needed treatment and complying with program requirements.
  • Work with families and the site team to ensure a smooth transition for children and families to before- and after-school care and between ECEAP and Kindergarten.
  • Collaborate with site staff and families, plan and facilitate family events that respond to specific training interests and information requests as indicated on the Parent Interest Survey or through other parent input throughout the year. Work with the site team and parents to schedule family events at times that are convenient for families.
  • Maintain accurate records including enrollment information, family resources checklist, documentation of referrals made, and follow-up and adult contact hours according to ECEAP program standards, compile and submit monthly activity report information, and other required records.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary planning for children and families to include staffing, multidisciplinary teams, individual education plans, and other cross-component coordination efforts.
  • Cover breaks for ECEAP Staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal and/or administrator.

 

      Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have one of the following qualifications:
  1. An associate or higher degree with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits in adult education, human development, psychology or another field directly related to their job responsibilities. These 30 credits may be included in the degree or in addition to the degree;
  2. DYCF approved equivalent;
  3. A Washington State ECE Home Visitor Certificate;
  4. A Home Visitor Child Development Associate (ADA) Credential from the Council of Professional Recognition; or
  5. High School Diploma or GED with an approved professional development plan (PDP) granting eligible new hires five (5) years from the date of hire to become fully qualified with (a), (b), (c), or (d) above.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with and providing support to students and families.
  • Adaptability to learn new computer programs and manage data within those programs.
  • Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
  • Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.
  • MERIT Portable Background Check
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine or proof of immunity
  • Completion of one-step Mantoux tuberculosis (TB) skin test, unless written proof of one of the following:
    • A negative Mantoux TB test in the 12 months prior to hiring
    • Medication therapy to treat TB
    • A recent negative chest X-ray and a statement from a health care provider that the individual does not pose a risk to others
  • Must be able to work in heat and cold (outside seasonal temperatures)
  • *Must pass Spanish proficiency test administered by OSD (oral and written)

      Salary:                       Per PSE CBA - Schedule A

      Hours:                        8.0 hours/day

      Contracted Days:   179 work days & 7 holidays (189 total contracted days)
