Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development for infants and toddlers.
- Create a warm, safe, and engaging classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning through play.
- Manage daily classroom routines including diapering, feeding, nap times, and activity transitions with patience and professionalism.
- Use behavior management strategies to foster positive interactions and support children’s emotional regulation.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, milestones, and any concerns, ensuring transparency and partnership.
- Collaborate with team members to plan lessons that incorporate early intervention strategies, literacy education, and developmental assessments.
- Maintain detailed records of child development progress, incident reports, and classroom activities in compliance with licensing standards.
- Follow mandated reporting laws to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to childhood education methods such as Highscope or preschool teaching techniques.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children in early childhood settings such as daycare centers or preschools.
- Knowledge of child development principles, childhood education best practices, and behavior management techniques.
- Experience developing curriculum plans focused on early intervention, literacy education, or physical education for young children.
- Strong communication skills for effective parent engagement and team collaboration.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; ongoing training in child welfare is preferred.
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and classroom management strategies is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive learning environments that support diverse learners including those requiring special education services.
