The Center Director oversees all aspects of operations, staff leadership, family engagement, and regulatory compliance while ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment. This role is responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local childcare licensing regulations and supporting high-quality early childhood education practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily center operations and ensure efficient workflows
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, enrollment, and administrative functions
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff while maintaining licensing ratios and requirements
- Support staff development and ongoing training compliance
- Manage family engagement, tours, enrollment, and parent communication
- Oversee billing, tuition collection, and account inquiries per company policy
- Ensure implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom practices
- Maintain safety standards, licensing compliance, and inspection readiness
- Oversee emergency procedures, drills, and safety documentation
- Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and maintenance coordination
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local childcare regulations
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Director or Assistant Director in a licensed childcare facility required
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of childcare licensing rules and compliance expectations
- Ability to manage staff, operations, and family relationships effectively
- Must meet all state requirements for Director/Administrator designation
- Must pass required background checks and fingerprinting
- Passion for early childhood education and quality program development

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, or assist children, equipment, and supplies up to 35–50 pounds as needed
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, and move throughout the facility for supervision and oversight
- Ability to actively supervise classrooms, offices, and outdoor areas as needed
- Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations, including evacuations and assisting children
- Ability to visually and auditorily monitor children and staff across the facility
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
