Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring machines to produce high-quality materials according to specifications. This role involves pulling, filling, and cutting orders, as well as receiving and putting away stock. The Machine Operator reads and interprets blueprints or job orders to determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements. This includes selecting the appropriate fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, and tools. The Machine Operator inspects finished workpieces to ensure they meet quality standards and product specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers.

Essential Job Duties
- 15% - Read and interpret work orders to determine specifications, materials, and instructions for processing.
- 25% - Verify heat numbers and confirm that the correct material type is used for each work order.
- 60% - Pull and/or cut orders as directed by the Assistant Manager Plant Operations or Plant Manager Operations, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficiency.
- Maintain general cleanliness and organization of the work area and plant as needed.
- Move trucks or trailers on company premises when required, following all safety procedures.
Required Skills:
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License preferred.
- Experience in warehousing or material handling is preferred.
- Ability to obtain certification to operate motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
- Clear oral and written communication; legible handwriting.
- Manual dexterity, coordination, and physical fitness to operate heavy equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend work instructions and blueprints.
- Basic math and measurement skills, including fractions and conversions.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task effectively, and make sound decisions.
- Teamwork and collaboration with supervisors and coworkers.
