What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at Earl Owen Co.?
I. Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of material handlers is to move material, with or without MVEs to the appropriate place based on assigned functional area.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all products are appropriately staged and/or loaded, picked or put away in a neat, secure, and orderly manner.
- Attend all meetings as directed. Daily shift meetings, as well as others, as directed.
- Perform all assigned duties in a safe manner.
- Follow all OSHA and company guidelines for safely performing tasks.
- Must notify management of any discrepancies.
- Wear company-issued shirts, so they are visible.
- Must follow all directions given by Management (including supervisors and leads).
- Complete any paperwork accurately and timely.
- Complete other duties as assigned
- If operating an MVE, must maintain forklift certification.
Stager/loader:
- Load trucks in a safe and secure manner, following route guidelines and weight limits.
- Move material to appropriate staging area.
Picker:
- Ensure all parts are pulled correctly and that your assigned Zone is neat and orderly.
- Deliver all parts to the staging area.
Put Away:
- Following Company policy and procedures, utilizing RF scanners, put away merchandise in appropriate bins in a safe, neat and orderly manner- entire warehouse depends on merchandise being located in accurate bin
- Identify and report discrepancies according to Company procedures.
Receiving:
- Unload trucks in a safe and secure manner.
- Accurately check in all material.
- Inspect for damage and verify received merchandise to delivery receipt.
- Identify shortages/overages and any other discrepancies and document and resolve per company procedure – reconcile pallet with packing list
- Make sure merchandise is placed in receiving area and clearly marked as R bin
