Duties/Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records and patient information to ensure accurate coding and billing.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any billing discrepancies or denials.
- Maintain patient records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding.
- Comply with specific guidelines for all carriers, Medicaid, Medicare and third-party reimbursement policies, regulations, and accreditation guidelines.
- Reviewing, revising, and working rejections and resubmitting claims.
- Submission of secondary claims upon processing of primary insurance.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- 3-5 years of Billing, Coding, and collections of claims in a healthcare setting.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) preferred, would consider recent graduate with CPC certification
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Strong organizational skills with solid problem-solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills and EMR.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding guidelines and updates.
- Experience with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Working knowledge of coding, billing, and collection of claims with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Billing and Coding: 3-5 years (Preferred)
- Healthcare: 5 years (Preferred)
