Overview
EAM is a Boston-based private equity firm seeking an Accounting Manager to support the CFO across fund accounting, financial reporting, and tax processes. This role is designed for a candidate currently working within a private equity firm who is looking to broaden their experience while working closely with senior leadership.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in coordinating with third-party fund administrators, reviewing financial outputs, and helping ensure accurate and timely reporting as the firm continues to scale. Applicants looking for 24-32 hours per week may also apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the CFO in overseeing fund accounting activities, including capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for third-party fund administrators; review and challenge their deliverables (Quarterly valuation packages, financial statements, investor reporting, etc.)
- Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual financial reporting
- Coordinate tax compliance processes, including partnership filings (K-1s), in collaboration with external tax advisors
- Support the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
- Review fund expenses, allocations, and supporting schedules for accuracy
- Assist with new fund launches, including coordination with administrators and service providers
- Contribute to the enhancement of accounting processes, controls, and reporting workflows
- Partner with internal teams (investment, operations, investor relations) on ad hoc reporting and analyses
- Provide guidance to junior team members and third-party fund administrators as applicable
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
- 4–7 years of experience within a private equity firm (in-house fund accounting or finance team)
- Prior experience overseeing or working closely with third-party fund administrators
- Strong understanding of partnership accounting and private fund structures
- Experience with tax reporting for investment partnerships (K-1s, 1065s)
- Familiarity with GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Background in public accounting is a plus, but direct private equity experience is strongly preferred
- Strong Excel skills; experience with fund accounting systems is a plus
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
