EagleView is hiring a Director of Aviation Safety for our fleet of fixed-wing piston aircraft (Piper Aztec). This fleet of roughly 15 aircraft (with influence over 40 more) operates throughout the U.S., and is managed out of Burlington, NC. This unique leadership role is a hands-on role for someone with fixed-wing aviation safety management experience (a Part 91 expert is preferred) and will require roughly 20-30% travel. This role reports to the COO and will lead the safety program of our in-house flight department (Pacific Fleet Aviation) through statistical analysis, safety promotion, audits, and inspections. In addition to effective safety management systems, relationship-building and diplomacy will be key factors to the success of this role. This person will use their experience and theory to develop safety processes, procedures, and protocols, and use their communication/relationship skills, to successfully implement them across the organization. The salary for this role is expected to be in the $120-130K range (plus bonus). Relocation assistance may also be available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure compliance with standards applicable to Part 91 of Title 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations
2. Manage the voluntary safety reporting system to detect and mitigate safety risks to operations
3. Serve as a leader and advocate for safety and continuous improvement within the PFA organization
4. Conduct safety investigations into high interest events and publish investigation reports, including findings, causes, and recommendations
5. Develop and teach safety courses via Zoom, Learning Management System, and in-person
6. Bring safety issues to the attention of management and deliver safety information to the organization’s staff and stakeholders
7. Analyze data to identify trends in hazards, events, and occurrences
8. Serve as a point-of-contact for the organization for interaction with regulatory agencies
9. Conduct safety audits, surveys, and inspections
10. Develop and maintain reporting standards to meet regulatory requirements
11. Upkeep the flight department’s Safety Management Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Environmental Health and Safety Manual
12. Facilitate meetings of the Aviation Safety Board
13. Maintain safety records and data for analysis and review
14. Track, evaluate, and manage Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) for the organization
Requirements
- Proven experience working in aviation operations
- Proven experience in safety and/or quality assurance
- Experience managing an aviation safety program
- Strong familiarity with Part 91 operations
- Experience with investigations and causal analyses
- Strong communication/diplomacy skills to build process implementation/adoption
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree in a related field preferred
- 8-10 years of direct experience in aircraft operations and/or aircraft maintenance
- 5 years of experience as a senior manager or director-level equivalent leadership
- Possession of FAA flight instructor or mechanic certificate
- Experience working within a strong aviation safety program
- Experience using safety management software
- Experience with aerial survey or photography flying
